Lascio in inglese queste ulteriori informazioni e commenti.
There are places where history was written – and yet nobody knows about them! To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, award-winning director Wim Wenders (Wings of desire, Paris-Texas, Perfect Days, etc.) has shot a short film that takes us to the most secret place in Europe at that time: a map room in a school in Reims, France, which served as a war room for the Allies. On May 7, 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered there and the world war ended. Today, “The Keys to Freedom” are more than just a museum piece. The question is how we use them today. Because freedom cannot be taken for granted, you have to do something for it.
“I had the privilege to be among the first generation of Germans who lived for 80 years in peace.” — Oscar-nominated German filmmaker Wim Wenders reflected in a recent interview with “The New York Times” about his new short film “The Keys to Freedom.” As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we are sharing a short film by Wim Wenders with a powerful message. In his unmistakable style, Wenders transports us to an unassuming school in Reims, France—the site of Nazi Germany’s surrender during World War II. But this is no history lesson. It is a timely call to action. Today, there is war in Europe again. And Wenders reminds us that freedom isn’t inherited—it’s earned, protected, and shared by the global community. Together, we invest in freedom.
